A Spirit-Filled Life

“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.”

Romans 8:5 (NIV)

As our prayers are lifted up to God, and we align ourselves with Him, we become one with Him in sincerity. It is then that we receive an adequate supply of the Holy Spirit. Paul refers to this supply in his letter from prison to the Philippians, showing us how to live successful Christian lives. We can become mature by being identified with Christ so that His attitude of humility and self-sacrifice becomes ours. Christ is both our source of power and our Guide (Philippians 1: 1-11 NIV).

This supply of the Holy Spirit results in our salvation and deliverance past, present, and future. God’s Word tells us about our deliverance in the past in Ephesians 2:8-9,” For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”

For our salvation and deliverance in the present, we are told in 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Our future deliverance is assured in 2 Timothy 4:18, “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly Kingdom. To Him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

So, why don’t we set our hearts on the Lord and live by His Holy Spirit? After all, He has set eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
